       It exists in Embera Puru, a small village of around 120 wonderful Embera Indians who choose to still live in a traditional village in the tropical rainforest in Panama.  The village is located only 2 hours outside of Panama City.  An hour by car and then about an hour by motorized dugout canoe up the Rio Pequeni, which is located in the watershed for the Panama Canal in the Chagres National Park.

    You will be welcomed with traditional music and warm smiles.  The Embera are proud to introduce you to their culture and to experience first hand their beautiful and tranquil village where Family and Community are more important than careers and money.  

     Your guide, Anne Gordon de Barrigon, is a blonde, blue-eyed, US citizen who fell in love with the open hearts of the Embera people while working on a film in Panama, ("End of the Spear")   As fate would have it, one of the men of the village, Otniel Barrigon,  showed a particular interest in Anne and they had a true heart & soul connection and are now very happily married.  They split their time between spending time with his family in the village and Panama City.

    Day trips as well as overnights can be arranged.  After spending even a few hours with the Embera' people Anne comments, "I have never failed to see a distinct softening in the faces of every North American tourist I have taken to the village."
