Humpback whale watching near Panama City

Panama is the only place in the world where both the Northern & Southern hemisphere populations of Humpback whales come together in their migrations to give birth and breed here in Panama!  This gives us a double season and twice as much time as any other place in the world to spend with the whales.

It is easy to find the whales during breeding season, July-October for the Southern Hemisphere whales and Jan.-March for the Northern Hemisphere whales.  We take a boat out from a port near Panama City and head out past Isla Taboga looking for whales.  Of course, there is never any guarantee when looking for wildlife, however, it is very likely we will see the whales and dolphins are commonly sightes as well as manta rays, sea turtles and maybe even whale sharks!

Bottle nose dolphins are common in Panama waters.

Panama is host to over 30 species of cetaceans (dolphins & whales) so it is likely we will see at least one of these species on our whale watching tour.

We have several boats available to us, depending on what size of group we have going.  For small groups of 8 or less, we take a 21' panga with an eco-friendly 4 stroke engine that is quieter and more comfortable.  Our captain, Alexis, has attended training programs to prepare him the best and least intrusive way to navigate around the whales.   For large groups of 10 or more, we have the option of going out on a beautiful 85' schooner sailboat.
