              Whale & Dolphin Watching

Offering 5 day Whale & Dolphin tours in the Pearl Islands, here in Panama and 1 day Whale Watching trips from Panama city.

Panama is blessed to have over 30 species of Cetaceans in it's waters, including Humpback whales.  Panama is the only place in the world where Humpbacks from both the Southern & Northern hemisphere populations could actually meet as they come here to breed and give birth.  Our boat leaves from a marina near Panama City.   We are blessed with both whale migrations to have two seasons each year where we can spend time with the majestic humpbacks, July-October & January-March.  For more whale watching tour info click here

Fort San Lorenzo & Gatun Locks

Fort San Lorenzo

For the trip to Fort San Lorenzo and Gatun locks, we leave Panama City around 8:00 am and drive out towards Colon.  We stop at the locks first and spend as much time as you like watching the ships go through and the operations of the locks.  Then we take a very leisurely drive out to the fort looking for wildlife along the way.  We often see monkeys, sloths, toucans, coati mundis, etc.  We wander around the fort and explore it's turrets, cannons, hallways and moats.  Then if you like there is a lovely little secluded bay and beach next to the fort to take a refreshing dip in the Caribbean sea.  By then we are pretty hungry so I suggest a lunch stop at the Shelter Bay marina nearby the fort.  We arrive back in Panama City around 5:00 pm.  Entrance fees to the locks and park are included.  It does not include lunch.  Portobelo, a world Unesco heritage site can be added to this day also.  It also has two old Spanish forts and the church of the black Christ.

Prices $50.00-75.00 per person, Portobelo option is an additional $50.00.

El Valle

El Valle

For El Valle I pick you up at 8:30 am and we drive West on the Pan American highway away from Panama City and we drive for about 1.5 hours and we climb up into the hills and get a great view back of the Pacific before we descend into the crater of the extinct volcano.  Inside El Valle there is much to see and depending on your interests we will explore it.  There is a nice market place in the center of town for fruits, vegetables and local crafts.  There are many beautiful homes and it is fun to drive around and see the landscaping and architecture.  There is a fun canopy zipline course there too.  There is also a natural hot springs spa and a small local zoo.  There are some ancient petroglyphs and many nice restaurants to choose from for lunch.

Price is $50.00-75.00 per person and does not include lunch at the restaurant of your choice or zipline cost.

Hike the Camino Real

This is a true 5 day adventure. The first day you arrive in Embera Puru, an Embera community along the banks of the San Juan de Pequini River just a couple hours from Panama City  where you will be treated to the full overnight tour experience.   From there it's hiking 4 days through the jungle with an Embera guide as well as your personal guide.  Your Embera' guide will be swinging his machete clearing a trail along the overgrown old gold route all the way to the Caribbean.

This is an intense hike and is not for the faint or light hearted, but is an incredible adventure into the true jungle along an historic trail.

We highly recommend this adventure if you are up to it.  Mind-numbingly gorgeous virgin rainforest with so much history hidden there. To read an articleabout this hike in the London Times click here   To read more indepth information about the Camino Real click here.
